Learning Outcome 4

Overall, I have learned so much from peer review. This turned from my least favorite day in the class to my favorite day in the class. It gave me opportunities to improve while helping others improve. In my early peer review process, I felt like I did not really know what I was looking for. It was difficult because I felt like I did not want to give any incorrect advice that could lead my peer to be worse off. For example, I used to not comment on things I felt confused over. However, once the year progressed, peer review seemed easier. I would use the word “Maybe” a lot, so I did not feel like they had to take my suggestion or simply say, “I was confused about…” In my later Peer review, I make a comment saying “I think you could give even more detail with explaining how you feel”. This gives the author room to decide how they want to interpret it but it is also not as demanding. However, I also make note if they are missing a key point of the prompt. I will use the phrase, “make sure to add” to help steer the author in the correct direction. Moreover, I have improved in being comfortable with giving feedback and as well as receiving it.
