Learning Outcome 5 and 6

My chosen Significant Writing Project has shown how I have improved over the course of this class how to write using MLA format. At the beginning of the semester, I did not know how to properly cite source in basic in-text citations as well as the work-cited page. For example, I know now that you do not have to include in-text citations if you reference the author from the credible source previously. In my Significant writing project, I say, “In the article, ‘Life’s Stories,’ Julie Beck, editor of the Atlantic, explains her interpretation on the importance of not being categorized as having a singular story. She explains that ‘Many people have some smaller stories of each type sprinkled throughout their greater life story, though a person’s disposition, culture, and environment can influence which they gravitate to.’” Before this paper, I was having trouble with citations. Now I have the format mastered. Also, this has helped me with small local revisions when I was looking to see if I cited the material correctly. Overall, this has helped strengthen my ability as a writer and I hope to carry this with me in future classes.
