In this assignment I was asked to prioritize global edits over local edits. At first it was pretty difficult. It was hard to not notice a simple spelling error or if a sentence did not make sense by the way it was phrased. They are the first details to really catch my eye. However, I knew it was not my task, so I was not tempted to write about the error, but it was hard to not even make a note of it. Also, I felt like I had to keep flipping back to the first page to really have the thesis fresh in my mind. Once I started thinking more about the overall essay as a whole, it seemed like it was a lot better. The first essay, it felt difficult to find certain things to say. Overall, it became easier by the second essay. I felt like I knew more of what I was looking for and I felt more relaxed diving into the essay. I feel like I like providing more global edits because it feels more beneficial to the writer. The only thing I still worry about is if my edits are helpful and if I am grasping the overall picture of the essay.
